What is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent eyebrow technique using a manual tool which unlike the traditional techniques that use machines, allows to create individual, fine, natural hair strokes. Sometimes known in the industry as microstroke, embroidery, feather brows or 3D tattoo brows. This method originated from East Asia but as this technique has grown in popularity so has the evolution of the technique and lasting and vibrant pigments with artists everywhere creating hair strokes that are unbelievably hyperrealistic.

How long does this last?

As all cosmetic tattoos done today, this is a “semi-permanent” procedure which deposits pigment at the upper dermis of the skin which will last up to 2 years depending on the skin type, age, lifestyle and how one follows the aftercare instructions. Unlike “permanent” body tattoos that deposits pigment below the surface, cosmetic tattoo fades to a more muted, powder makeup-like look. As styles and skin changes, it allows the opportunity for you to update your look every few years. Does it completely go away? Not always. Most actually can still see the shape after 10 years.

What can I expect during my appointment?

The completed look takes typically 2 procedures (your initial session and the touchup). However, some may require more than 1 touchup. The first session is about 2 hours; the first half consists of the measuring and shaping of the brows followed by 20 minutes for the topical numbing cream to settle in and then the actual tattooing. The touch-up is scheduled between 6-8 weeks and is highly recommended as the final step of fully completed work. Some may have to come in sooner. Expect to allow about a total of 2 months from beginning to end (healed touchup) for your brows to be complete. This is good to consider if you plan on getting perfect brows before a special occasion.

Will there be any pain?

A very effective topical cream is used before the procedure and 2nd numbing gel is also applied in the middle of the session to minimize the discomfort. It is effective on 80% of my clients who say they feel nothing but just a scratching sound. I have some that say the sensation is like waxing or plucking your eyebrows.
